Kwatsi Bay, The Broughtons

We woke up this morning to soft, white, clouds, but no rain. We enjoyed watching a bear on the beach, while having coffee. During our cruise the clouds began to disappear and by 10:45am Brad pulled out his sunglasses. Needless to say, he had a big smile on his face as he hadn't had to wear sunglasses in quite sometime.

Our cruise to Kwatsi Bay was a sort 10 nm. The sun had come out by the time we arrived and it has now turned into a definite day to wear shorts. I'm actually sitting in the shade, on the docks, taking advantage of having WIFI access at this resort, to post this update. The view in this bay is spectacular and I can hear two different waterfalls pound on the rocks in the background. To clarify, the mountains in this area are primarily composed on granite. It is amazing that a tree can grow in such conditions, but they do.

We hiked to nearby Lacy Falls. This is a large falls where water flows down over a steep granite mountain. The hike is through a thick forest, with many areas of ferns.

Galetea is on the docks with us, along with 3 other boats. So, you can see, there are not many at this small resort. Pretty imtimate.

The WIFI here is pretty slow so I'm not able to upload any photos this afternoon, but I wanted to post an entry as to what we are up to.

Tomorrow will cruise ~22 nm south to Lagoon Cove, which we visited on our way North. The following day we'll head south to Blind Bay. Both of these resorts we anticipate having WIFI access, and should be able to be back in Cell phone access area by the time we get to Blind Bay. To clarify, we have not had a connection for cell phone access for quite sometime. Too remote I guess.

After Blind Bay we'll head to the Octopus Islands and then thru Desolation Sound. Neither of these areas we'll have WIFI, just a lot of wildlife. To clarify, I hope to have a posting for the next two days, but after that you won't hear from us until we cross over to Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.

Weather looks good. Winds are supposed to kick up, but we feel we are now cruising the portion of the inside passage that is well protected. And when we get close to crossing the Georgia Strait (10-20km) we'll wait for a good weather day.

Hope you are having a great summer.

Kwatsi Bay. Well, part of Kwatsi Bay. It is really a very big bay.
